Tsing Ma Bridge – Asia’s amazing suspension bridge

Named after two islands the Tsing Ma Bridge in Hong Kong is the seventh longest suspension bridge in the world. Tourists to Hong Kong will find that the bridge offers a scenic spot, to take pictures from and is a marvel to behold.

The bridge has the facility to accommodate rail as well as road traffic which travels along its two decks. The main extention of the bridge goes on for more than 1000 metres at a height of over 200 metres; these dimensions are enough of an indicator of its size.

For visitors to get a real feel for the bridge they can visit the Lantau Link Visitor Centre that has a viewing platform. This platform offers better and safer views of the bridge for tourists and is on the northwest corner of the Tsing Yi Island that is towards the Tsing Yi end of the bridge.

While at the viewing platform tourists can see the Ting Kau Bridge as well as the Kap Shui Mun Bridge. After spending some time here tourists can proceed to the Aiport Core Programme Exhibition Centre situated at around 2km towards the north end of the bridge.

The bridge itself as visitors will discover is an amazing work of architecture, it has a bridge deck 41 metres wide. The width of the brdige is what allows it to accommodate six lanes of traffic. There are three lanes of traffic going in opposite directions. The lower deck of the bridge is where the two rail tracks come in. Also on this deck the bridge has facilities that allow access for maintenance in case of emergencies.
